Just celebrated my 20th anniversary with my wife and we had been together for somewhere around 5 years before we actually got married, which means I have now been with my wife for longer than I have lived without her. That’s pretty insane stuff.

I still don’t feel old, which is nice. Well, I don’t feel mentally old. I am reaching the point where I can feel weather changes coming in my joints. Temperature going down 20 degrees means that I get to feel like I have a high ankle sprain for a couple of days. I try not to eat foods that stoke inflammation but at some point it just doesn’t matter I guess.

I’ve been coding up a storm. I’ve felt pretty reinvigorated by Claude Code, especially with the release of Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 model. It’s been pretty incredible. I feel more and more vindicated by jumping on the AI train early and evangelizing agentic coding. I still haven’t felt any threat of losing my career to the technology, either. Human creativity is undefeated and I think it will stay that way.

Miriam and I watched season 1 of Lanterns as it released to HBO Max week-to-week and it’s interesting how my preferences have shifted with age. When Netflix first launched and started releasing full seasons to binge, I was all about that. Season 1 of Stranger Things was one of the most magical accidents that I’ve ever experienced. I was doing my typical night owl routine and scrolling through Netflix when all of a sudden midnight hit and I saw that familiar red background with boys-on-bikes in the foreground. I watched an episode, texted everyone I knew that I struck gold, and then I was up until 6AM until I finished it and then Miriam woke up and I watched it again with her after a nap. Awesome stuff.

No more. Give me a week-to-week release cadence on everything, please. It’s so much easier to stay ahead of spoilers and less stressful, too.

I’ve been doing a lot of coding lately — for work, personal projects, and projects for friends. I am maintaining two apps that I built from the ground up and two forks of free and open source projects. I would link to them but the links include my last name, which I’m no longer comfortable attaching to anything on the Internet where I may express an opinion.

It’s not impossible to find my last name if you’re properly motivated, but I’m trying not to include it willy-nilly. I have concerns about the surveillance state forming underneath us here in the United States. I tend to have opinions on things and a non-functioning filter at times.

In the last few months, I’ve either created or done ground-up redesigns of websites for creative projects that some of my closest friends are involved in. Check them out!

I’ve been so into coding lately that I’ve been listening to far fewer podcasts, playing far fewer video games, and watching far less television. I’ve been listening to a lot more music, which I’ll try to post on my blog from time to time.

I did watch Season 1 of Widow’s Bay with friends though, and that is incredibly good. Highly recommend if you love Parks & Rec style comedy mixed with Stephen King style horror tropes.
